Join us at the Lavender Inn Sunday June 24th at 1:30 pm during the Ojai Lavender Festival weekend, as Diana Hall teaches you basics of Botanical Illustration. This class is geared towards beginner and intermediate level students and introduces drawing skills needed for accurately illustrating plants in graphite and color pencil. You will learn to render plant forms with conviction and clarity through drawing exercises and techniques focusing on close observation of the plant form. These exercises include contour and gesture rendering as well as linear perspective. The effects of light on basic shapes will be related back to natural forms and surfaces of plants.
Diana Hall is a graduate of the California College of Arts & Crafts and is a member of the Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California. She has taught at the L.A. Arboretum and the Theodore Payne Foundation.
The class will take place at Ojai’s lovely Lavender Inn where students will spend time in the Inn’s lovely garden. Suggested materials to bring:
